Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a program of USA Archery that teaches archery to young people, provides great opportunities for awarding achievement, and helps archers to enjoy the sport recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition. The Arizona Archery Club (JOAD) program offers both recurve and compound archers the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that also fosters focus, increased self confidence, and team building skills. JOAD is open to any youth archer ages 8-19 years of age. We have a very progressive approach that maximizes the youth archers ability to learn and grow into a well rounded athlete.
Mission: Enable and encourage AAC J.O.A.D. archers at all levels to reach their individual goals while fostering a supportive team environment with a focus on safety, building character, and positive attitude
Vision: Inspire participation in recreational and competitive compound and recurve archery. Teach strategies in the disciplines of indoor, outdoor, and 3D target archery. AAC J.O.A.D. archers will be recognized for their technical skills, sportsmanship and exceptional character – both on and off the competitive field.
USA Archery, NFAA and ASA have adopted the “NTS System” as the National Archery Training method. AZ Archery club follows and teaches this process of training.
“As JOAD Director I am lucky to have such a great team of coaches and Parents backing me in my efforts to create a fun environment for the kids. It is important to me that every child sees themselves progress while enjoying the sport that I love. We must never forget that this is for the kids” – Chris Escarcega
